About Me
I’m Nicholas and go by the nickname “Nico” given by my father . I’m an Artist who has been pursuing my passion for many years and I have always been artistic and crafty my entire life. From a young age I would always be creating and drawing, having my nose in everything creative. My dad got me into making models of cars, putting them together and fully painting the interior and exterior. Over the years I got better and better at putting them together and finishing the full model, to this day my dad has a collection that I have built since I started. My dad was also the one who bought me lots of paint by numbers and this is where I started to hone my acrylic painting skills and improve my brush control.
In high school I would just sketch and paint for fun. I went to University for Economics and in my last year my passion for creating really sparked and I started working on developing my art. I focused on learning new techniques, developing my skills and challenging myself to be a master of all trades. I started with learning basics and working on my sketches. Working on anatomy and on doing head sketches, I really enjoy drawing heads and portraits. A friend of mine introduced me to Copics and I got hooked really quickly in buying the markers and learning everything I could about them. 250+ markers later I have a pretty good collection and have an intensive knowledge about the markers. At the time I was mainly drawing comic and anime characters as that has always been a big passion for me. After learning how to use Copics I was ready to move on to the next medium. So I stated to learn how to use watercolors and I still am learning how to properly use them, but I would say that I have made good progress. It started out with characters but eventually started to paint animals mostly dogs and birds. As I developed my abilities in this medium you can see improvement in my clean colors and brush strokes. Since I was happy with my improvement with the watercolors it was time to move on to the next medium. I didn’t do much acrylic painting since my paint by numbers days. It was about time to try and create my own paintings, thus starting my work with canvases. I started off with smaller ones and practiced my blending technique, with time and my marker skills help in improving fast in this medium as the color concept and shading was fairly similar.
Most recently I got into block printing. I’m still fairly new to this medium. However have fallen in love with it. The process how carving is so meditative and relaxing.
I just love to create. No matter what medium.
